BMW Warning Lights Meaning

If you want to know what is the meaning of your BMW dashboard warning , you are in the right place .

The dashboard warnings are divided in three categories :

Green/Blue Warning Lights :

Anytime one of your green indicator lights comes on, there is no need to be alarmed. These lights are just informational.
Indicators of this color inform you about the status of a car component , for example : (headlights on, door open, turn signal , etc )

Yellow Warning Lights : 

Yellow indicator lights are a sign that there is a possible issue, and the yellow color is trying to tell you to use caution when driving.
If you see a yellow warning light, make sure you have your vehicle checked by a service technician as soon as possible.

Red Warning Lights :

If one of your red indicator lights comes on, stop the car immediately in a safe place and turn off the engine.
These warning lights inform you about a serious car failure or a safety issue that requires immediate drivers attention.

Reset Service Intervals BMW E90 E91 E92 E93 E60 E61 E87

In this tutorial , i will show you how to reset service intervals on BMW E90 E91 E92 E93 E60 E61 E87 .

Service intervals available : oil , microfilter , front brake pads , rear brake pads , brake fluid , general inspection , exhaust gas inspection .

To reset the service intervals , you need to follow the next steps : 

  1. Turn ON the ignition and wait for all the warnings to dissapear .
  2. Press and hold the cluster button for about 5 seconds .
  3. Release the button when you reached the service menu
  4. Use the scroll button on the turn signal knob to navigate between available service intervals
  5. Select the interval you want to reset and press the BC button until you see displayed “reset”
  6. Confirm the reset by pressing BC button longer .

Hidden Menu BMW E60 E61

To access the hidden menu on BMW E90 E91 E92 E93 E60 E61 E70 E87 follow the next steps :

  1. Turn ON the ignition and wait for all the warnings to dissapear
  2. Press and hold the cluster button for about 10 seconds , until you reach the test menu

In this menu , you will see the last 7 characters of your VIN code . To unlock the hidden menu , you must calculate the sum of the last 5 digits . The result must be entered in menu 19 to unlock the cluster .

After you unlock the cluster , you can access all the available menus .

01.00 – FGSTNR = VIN Number

01.02 – BMWTNR = cluster series

01.04 – KI HSTL DATUM = cluster production dates

01.06 – SW = software version

02.00 – KI TEST = cluster test

04.00 – MOM VBR = actual fuel consumption

04.01 – RW-VBR-MOM = fuel consumption / h 05.yy = consumption

06.00 – fuel remaining in tank – left – average – right

07.00 – KTMP-MOM = Coolant temp( celsius )

07.01 – ATMP-MOM = Outside temp ( celsius )

08.00 – V-EFF = Speed

08.02 – V-SZ = Cruise control speed

09.00 – Voltaj

11.00 – hour format 12/24 h

11.01 – distance format km or mile

11.02 – temperature format celsius – fahrenheit

11.03 – consumption format km/l or l/100km or mpg

13.00 – AUDIO = test gong

14.00 – FS EINTRAEGE = error codes

19.00 – UNLOCK

Tail Light Bulbs Replacement Inner / Trunk BMW E91

To replace the tail light bulbs on the tailgate/trunk on the BMW e91, first you need to remove the interior cover of the tailgate.

  1. Using a flathead screwdriver , press on the 3 clips and remove the cover
  2. Remove the isolant protection cover
  3. Press on the bulb holder clip and remove it

Now you have access to the bulb you want to replace .

Bulbs type : P21W
