The dashboard warnings are divided in three categories :

Green/Blue Warning Lights :

Anytime one of your green indicator lights comes on, there is no need to be alarmed. These lights are just informational.

Yellow Warning Lights : 

Yellow indicator lights are a sign that there is a possible issue, and the yellow color is trying to tell you to use caution when driving.

Hidden Menu BMW iDrive CCC Navigation Professional

For users that want some advance features, iDrive CCC also has a hidden menu, named “Service menu“.

CCC is the short name for Car Communication Computer. The CCC was introduced in 2003.

Several important functions can be checked directly at the CCC iDrive with the aid of the Service menu.

This menu can be used to select and adjust settings that are not visible for the customer and is used by a BMW technician .

CCC iDrive is available for the following BMW cars :

1 series e81 e82 e87 e88
3 series e90 e91 e92 e93
5 series e60 e61
6 series e63 e64
x5 e70
x6 e71 e72

Unlocking the Service Menu Option

To access the hidden menu in CCC iDrive ,follow the next steps :

  1. Turn ON the ignition and wait for the iDrive to start
  2. Click on the “Menu” button to reach the main screen
  3. Press the iDrive controller for about 15 seconds
  4. Afterwards , rotate it three clicks to the right then three clicks to the left then one to the right then one to the left and one to the right , then press the controller knob one last time .

The diagnosis aplication menu is now open

Here , you have two options : OSD and Exit .

Press OSD to reach the “diagnosis aplication”

To exit the service mode , press “menu” button .

The replacement of a tail light bulb in BMW E91 it’s a procedure that can be done by anyone in only a few minutes .

On this lamp , you will find the lights for : parking , brake and turn signal .

To access the back of the lamp , you will need to remove the cover .

Remove the bulb holder by pressing the safety clip .

To remove the bulb , press it and turn it counterclockwise .

The bulbs type are P21W .

If you own such a car, it would be necessary to document yourself before, in order to be prepared in case you need to use this kit.

If your car is equipped with a spare wheel, it would be good to practice replacing it at home, just to be prepared in the harshest scenarios (night, rain, cold). Being in a safe place, with a minimum of knowledge and the necessary tools, replacing a wheel should be quite easy.

TIPS FOR YOUR SAFETY:

  1. Before replacing a wheel, try to find a safe parking space, as far away from ongoing traffic as possible.
  2. Park the car on a hard / equal surface.
  3. DO NOT start this procedure if you have passengers in the car. Make sure passengers are away from the car and safe.
  4. DO NOT work under the car when it is raised on the jack!
  5. Make sure you have positioned the jack on the lifting stand dedicated to your car. Improper positioning of the jack can lead to collapse, damage to the car or injury.

In this hidden menu , you can see the exact amount of fuel in digital format and you can do some cluster and display tests .

To access the hidden menu follow the next steps :

  1. Press and hold the cluster button
  2. At the same time , turn the ignition ON
  3. Release the button after you reach the hidden menu

As you can see , the cluster is now in test mode . If you press the button again , you can do a display test .

If you press the button again , you can see the exact amount of fuel .
